A retired accountant, he died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday, May 4, 2008, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 79 and a native of Sulphur. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., at Government Street, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by four daughters, Lisa Helms and husband Kenneth, Vivian Landry, and Stephanie Landry, all of Baton Rouge, and Becky L. Nieman and husband Mike, of Midland, Texas; two sons, Joseph III and Christopher Landry, both of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Nell Caballero, Belle Rose, and Florence Landry Kelly, Monroe; six grandchildren, Nicole Helms, Bradley and wife Brandy Helms, Jessica Helms, Travis Landry, and Rachael and Austin Nieman; and two great-grandchildren, Cody Helms and Cameron Helms. Preceded in death by his wife, Lydia G. Landry; parents, Joseph and Meda Leblanc Landry; three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers will be Kenny Helms, Travis Landry, Mike Nieman, Austin Nieman, Chris Jaynes and Roger George. He was a graduate of Delcambre High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He was an LSU fan and loved all sports, golf, dancing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank Adventa Hospice Services, Tangela Wilson, Bonnie Peltier and Melissa Batiste.
