Joseph Landry

Joseph Garland Landry, age 89, who was a resident of Greenwell Springs, passed away on February 2, 2015 at Carpenter House Nursing Facility.

He was a retired clerk, of 43 years, with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Company. He loved gardening and supplying his family with vegetables every summer. He enjoyed family gatherings and also worked security for LSU Football and Basketball games.

Garland is survived by his wife, Marilyn Abernathy Landry; three daughters, Kay Lossett and husband Mike, Layne Amos and husband David, and Laurie McLean and husband Greg; one son, Bobby Landry and wife Sheila; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maude Amorello and husband Joe, Irma Laird and husband Elmer, and Hilda Pennington and husband Cecil; one brother-in-law, Joe Denham.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Philip and Edvige Landry; brother and sister-in-law, Woodrow and June Landry; and two sisters, Shirley Denham and Garnet Landry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 12:00 PM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, officiant will be Rev. Michael Moroney, Pastor St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
