Joseph Edward Gibson

Joseph Edward (“Joe”) Gibson, age 36, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 3, 2024, after a brief illness. 

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jennifer Jennings Gibson, and their three sons, Wesley, Grant, and Carter. Joe was a loving husband and outstanding father and role model for his young boys. After long days at his job with Air Products and Chemicals, he could often be found coaching one of his boys in baseball, football or playing with them in the backyard. Joe and Jennifer are dedicated members at The Chapel on the LSU campus. 

Joe was born on May 12, 1988, in Vidalia, Georgia, where he lived as a young boy, before his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1999. He was a 2010 graduate of Auburn University, and received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from LSU in 2012. 

As a wonderful and irreplaceable husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and friend, Joe left us far too soon and will be sorely missed by all. 

Joe is also survived by his father and mother, Eddie and Meridee Gibson; his mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Linda and Gerald Garrison; brother, Bryan Gibson and wife Jennifer; sister, Louise Webb and husband Spencer; brother-in-law, Bobby Jennings and wife Kate; sister-in-law, Emily Womack and husband Jonathan; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and countless friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Jennings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at The Chapel on the LSU Campus, 3355 Dalrymple Drive in Baton Rouge. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
