Joseph Joey Louis Conkerton, born Feb. 11, 1962, has gone to rest with his Lord. Joey was a lifetime resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., on Monday, May 11, from 1 p.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Miles D. Walsh. Burial in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his loving parents, Laurence J. Conkerton and Sara Martrain Conkerton; his only son, Daniel Joseph; and five siblings, Kim Conkerton Dicharry and husband Dreax Dicharry, Lauri Conkerton Percy Cavell and husband Tim Cavell, Laurence Darryl Conkerton, Brian David Conkerton and Lance Daniel Conkerton. Joey had seven nephews and nieces, Aimee, Allison, Dreux and Mary Katherine Dicharry, and Hannah, Hope and Graham Cavell. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Nick Martrain, Sal Martrain, Paula Martrain Grimley, Gloria Martrain Grand and Idabell Perschall; and many loved cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Joseph and Marie Martrain; maternal great-grandmother, Pauline M. Roussa; maternal great-aunt Camilla Roussa; paternal grandparents, Louis and Alvina Conkerton; and a brother-in-law, Donald Edward Percy. Part of Joey's extended family were his many dear friends who loved, supported and comforted him. Joey was loved by so many and always extended himself to others. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Pallbearers will be Charles Rip McClure, Henry Sharp, Mike Grand, Chris Grand, Samuel D'Agostino and Mark Maggio. Honorary pallbearer is Jay Manda. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9956.
