A native of San de Cuba and resident of Baton Rouge, died on Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. Josephs Carpenter House at 7:30 a.m. at the age of 86. He was a retired executive purchasing agent for the family business, Gator, Inc. in Miami, FL. A private graveside service was held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 9 a.m. in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by two nieces: Cora L. Ribas and husband, Pete Siewer and Lu Lu Ribas nephew, Caye Ribas and wife, Nancy Cole Ribas three greatnephews: Jason Soules and wife, Mecklin, Justin Soules, and Will Borne greatniece, Gabriella Ribas and greatgreatniece, Berta Soules. Preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Luz Parreno three sisters: Maria, Josefina, and Bertha brotherinlaw, Cayetano Ribas and niece, Bert Ribas Soules. Special thanks to the St. Josephs Carpenter House, Dr. Mark Kantrow, and Landmark Nursing Home for the care and kindness given to Mr. Jose.
