Johnnie Drago

Johnnie Dominic Drago, 67, resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was an extremely kind and gentle man who touched everyone around him and loved his family dearly. Johnnie was known as a caring and thoughtful person who never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He loved planning parties and providing the cakes, traveling and anything LSU. All vacations were planned around his Tigers games. He coached a womens softball league for many years while working at the Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Johnnies work career began in the early 70s when he started working as an Xray tech with the Baton Rouge General where he served for almost 30 years in multiple positions, including mentoring young techs as well as teaching at the Baton Rouge School of Radiologic Technology. In addition, he worked for almost 9 years with St. Elizabeth Hospital and was honored to end his career with an 8 12 year stint at the Surgical Specialty Center where he cared for his patients as well as coworkers.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Price Drago children, Jonathan Drago and wife Mary Kathryn, Jennifer and husband Ronald Ball stepchildren, Jose Ignacio, Logan and Michael Ossa, and Cynthia Dianne and husband Brian Viola motherinlaw, Verna K. Price grandchildren, Whitney, James and Breann Ball and Cooper Drago and siblings, Anthony and wife Kathy, Sam, Joseph and wife Martha, Lena Drago, and Congetta Polito. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Francisco Drago sister, Mary Burns and brotherinlaw, Johnny Polito.

Visiting hours will be observed by Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, conducted by Father Mike Collins. Interment will be held at a later date.
