John Zimmer

Native of Buffalo, New York and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on November 25, 2012 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 71. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at Resthaven Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy. from 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Wednesday, November 28 at St. Jean Vianney 16266 S Harrells Rd. from 11 am until Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Burial to follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife Sonya Zimmer two daughters, Mary Zimmer Godbout and husband Ted, Laura Zimmer LaMotte and husband Aaron son, John A. Zimmer and wife Romy stepdaughter Gabby four grandchildren, TJ, Chloe, Tyler and Catherine brother, Paul Zimmer and wife Vicki, fatherinlaw, Skip DAmico and spouse Shirley, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Margaret Zimmer. He was an avid sports fan, First Lieutenant in the Army and served in the Vietnam War, and also a Civil Engineer. John lived life to the fullest and was such a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Special thanks to the SICU staff at our Lady of the Lake Hospital for being so kind. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
