I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. John Frederick J.W. Wemple left to ride the trail forever Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. He was born Sept. 9, 1949, to Fred and Nelwyn Wemple, who were of Benton. A graduate of LSU, he married Mary Louise Lulu Himel in 1972 and continued to live in Baton Rouge, where for 35 years he enabled people to have secure financial futures as a New York Life agent. A loving husband and father, he balanced work with spending as much time with his family as possible. Family, friends, and faith were the things he valued most. He is survived by his wife, Lulu a sister, Lydia Maranto and husband Jim son, Matthew and wife Lisa daughter, Dr. Kristin Morvant and husband Joey along with a loving extended family and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. John lived an active life as a cowboy and music lover. He also had a strong philanthropic enthusiasm for cooking and serving meals at the St. Vincent de Paul mens homeless shelter. A special thanks goes out to his medical team, Dr. Jon Olson, Dr. Kelly Scrantz, Dr. Edmund Vinci, Dr. Mark Kantro and countless medical staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center who remained dedicated to his health and welfare throughout the last 15 months. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. The family requests that in place of flowers, donations be sent to the St. Vincent de Paul mens Shelter, P.O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
