John David Toups, age 45, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on December 20, 2021.
John was born and raised in Opelousas, and throughout his life became close friends with just about everyone that he came in contact with. Like Will Rogers, it can be said that he never met a man (or woman) that he didn’t like. John could light up any room with his presence, humor, and infectious laugh. He was generous to a fault, loyal to those he was close friends with, and knew how to cheer those who needed encouragement at the right time.
John had an incredible love for the outdoors, music, and cooking. He was a tremendous baseball talent and served as a role model for his nephews who took up the sport. His love for his family was immeasurable, especially his various nieces and nephews. He was a proud mama’s boy to his mother (Pixie) and would be the first to admit it. John also had a special relationship with his father, who served as his coach and mentor during his youth athletic career. His brothers and sister were also very close to him and the Toups family was never short for love during his lifetime.
He relished life, was a comfort to those that knew him, and never passed up the opportunity to tell you that he loved you. John was a kind soul with a heart of gold and will truly be missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
John is survived by his mother, Lucy Toups (Pixie) ; siblings, Mark Toups, Charisse Toups Hanchey and her husband Brian, and Troy Toups and his wife Denilza; nieces and nephews, Brennan Toups, Lauren Toups, Connor Toups, Mark Stephen Toups, Andrew Hanchey, and Rachel Ransier.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Toups.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Family and friends may sign the online guest book or leave a note to the family at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com
