After a courageous battle with cancer, John Kevin Thompson, 56, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, July 25, 2014. John was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and a graduate of Istrouma High School. He was an employee of Shell Chemical for 37 years. He was a faithful member and servant of the Lord at Redeemer Baptist Church. John will always be remembered as an avid outdoorsman. His love of hunting and fishing was only surpassed by his love for his family and the Lord Jesus.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Angela LeBlanc Thompson and their children, Preston and wife Natalie, Justin and wife Lyndsay, Hannah Black and husband Josh along with grandchildren Daniel, Anna, Nicholas, Jack, and Grace Thompson and Olivia Black brothers, Nalton Thompson and wife Cindi, and Preston Pat Thompson along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Thompson and Lucy Inez Rogers.
Visiting hours will be observed at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 5805 Jones Creek Rd, Baton Rouge on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 5:008:00 pm. Visiting will resume at Woodlawn Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 10:00 am until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, conducted by Dr. Tommy Middleton. Pallbearers will be Adam Thompson, Cliff Bourgoyne, Alvin Thompson, Stan Blouin, Paul Jackson, Jimmy Root, and Richard Dugas. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Cambre, Wendell Miller, Glen Kern, Tommy Bourne, Joey Babin, and Doug Bonnecarrere.
In lieu of flowers John desired that any donations be made to Redeemer Baptist church to further the Kingdom of God.
