Mr. John Dutart Reily III, of Greenwell Springs, LA passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
He was the son of John and Vivian Reily, born on April 24, 1940, in Baton Rouge, LA.
He attended Catholic High School, Class of 1958. In 1959, he joined the Navy and served on U.S.S. Chivo. In 1963, he married his hometown sweetheart, Dorothy Ann Maggio.
They built their home in Greenwell Springs and have lived there since 1966. Early in his career, he worked for BellSouth, but later his career path was guided by his passion for bass fishing.
John spent twenty years in the bass boat and fishing industry. He was a great conversationalist, never met a stranger, and he made lifelong friendships that he cherished. John was a proud member of Baton Rouge Base U.S. Navy Submarine Veterans and Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann; his daughter, Dianna Reily; her son, Gunnar Knost; John's sons: Chris Reily, wife Joy, their son Thomas; Scott Reily, wife Tracey, and their children, Cayden and Anna Claire; and his brother, Barry Reily.
He enjoyed sharing his sense of humor and his love of fishing, hunting, and football with his family. John loved opening his home to family and friends and sharing a delicious meal prepared by Ann.
The family invites you to join them in honoring John and sharing memories at a celebration of his life from 9-10:30am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Kristenwood Reception Hall, 14025 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA 70739.
A Mass at 11am will follow at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Greenwell Springs, LA. A private burial of his cremains will be held at Port Hudson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 2151, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101, or the charity of your choice.
