John Ragusa loved his wife of 20 years, LuLu, his family, life, fishing and hunting. John fought a hard fought battle against an underserved illness. Surrounded at home by his loved ones, he finally gave up the struggle and gave his soul to the Good Lord as pure as the day he was born. John wants all his buddies to know that he will be catching and releasing the biggest fish and watching all the most beautiful deer he has ever seen. A retired employee of Volks Construction and a resident of Prairieville, he died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at his home. He was 66, a U.S. Army veteran and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Saturday, April 26, from 9:30 a.m. until chapel service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. J. Clifton Hill. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lu Lu Ragusa; three daughters, Angie Ragusa, Tara Sibley and Ashley Delgado and husband Edward; favorite and only son, Lucas John Ragusa and wife Michelle; three sisters, Dianna Gilcrease and husband Bob, Carolyn Rice and husband Roy and Angela Faye Ragusa; and five grandchildren, Chris Ragusa, Amanda Ragusa, Sadie Ragusa, Brenton Ragusa and Mason Delgado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Frances Ragusa. Pallbearers will be Lucas Ragusa, Chris Ragusa, John Ray Bueche, Joey David, Corley Trawick and Mike Cowart. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Gilcrease and Warren George. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Special thanks to Ginny, Sandy and Nerissa at St. Joseph Hospice for their love, support and caring shown to John and his family. Thanks also to that special person who said, Follow your heart.
