Retired owner of Mitchell Equipment and a resident of French Settlement, he died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales due to Parkinsons disease. He was 75, a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War with two years service and a native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, July 17, from 4:30 p.m. until religious service at 7 p.m. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Bettye H. Mitchell four daughters, Leslie Yander and husband Benny, Lauren Fabre and husband David, Natalie Glover and husband Michael, and Mar Sue Parro and husband Dolph a son, John Mitchell III and wife Dana and 11 grandchildren, Renee and Hunter Mitchell, Jamie, Layne and Kyle Yander, Fanrin and Lindsey Fabre, Carley and Jordan Patterson and Eric and Peyton Parro. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Mitchell and sister and brotherinlaw, Patsy and Wally Kohfeldt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J.
