John Mathis, Jr.

John H. Mathis Jr., age 66, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on May 9, 2017.

He is survived by his mother, Gene Spears; his brother, Mark Mathis and wife Jeannie; his sisters, Jennifer Strickland and husband Bill, and Stephanie Whall; his children, Bradley Barbay and wife Vickie, Stephan Mathis and wife Heather, and John Hassell Mathis III; his grandchildren, Christopher Barbay, Savannah Mathis, Sawyer Mathis, Madilyn Mathis, Kayla Mathis, Avery Mathis, and Maxwell Mathis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Mathis; and his father, John Hassell Mathis Sr.

Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 11:00 am until funeral services at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

Pallbearers will be Mikey Esthay, Josh Mathis, Eric Strickland, Christopher Barbay, Bradley Barbay, and Stephen Mathis. Honorary Pallbearer will be Sawyer Mathis.
