John William “Bill” Liles, 75, passed away on August 13, 2021, quietly exiting this world much like he did everything else - without much fuss. Bill was soft spoken, never with judgment, likely to be found on the outside circle of a crowd, sipping his drink. Though most of his years were spent in Louisiana, Bill still considered himself a Southern Baptist from Texas. He was a proud Aggie and Navy Veteran, having served as an officer in the Vietnam War. He spent the last two decades of his career as a Safety Engineer for LWCC.
He didn’t say much in a group setting, but imparted many gifts and wisdom to everyone over the years. His daughter is an engineer because of him. His son is a very talented handyman/craftsman and ultimate problem solver because of him. They love to learn because of him.
Bill was perpetually late and made everyone crazy as a result - probably due to a 12-point safety check of something that needed to be done right then, before he left the house. While not a huge fan of infant children (try again when they can talk), he certainly found his way with chatty toddlers and the older crowd of grandkids to teach them to think about how things work. We are so thankful he knew and loved all 5 of them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Kaye, two children, Lindsey (Calli) and Shane (Lindsey), brother, Tommy (Vicky) and five grandchildren - Landry, Lane, Nora, Clara and Myra. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Elmer and Virginia Harding Liles.
