John Malcolm “Mackie” Langlois, Sr. was born on June 15, 1933, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and passed away on February 27, 2024, surrounded by his wife of 66 years and his children in their family home.
Mackie was born to Ramsey and Louise Langlois of Baton Rouge. He graduated from Istrouma high school, enlisted in the US Navy, then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University. Mackie retired after a long career in the oil and gas industry as the owner of Partco, Inc.
In 1956, he met Adele Kennedy in Baton Rouge. They married and went on to have 8 children, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Mackie always had a baby in his hands, his feet on the dance floor, a smile on his face, and his eyes on his bride.
Mackie was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Belle Williams Kennedy; daughter, Molly Louise Langlois; and brothers and one sister, Thomas, Albert, Coco, and Douglas Langlois, and Nancy Cohn.
He is survived by his loving wife; his children, John Langlois, Jr. (Tracy), Libby Dunbar (Winder), Georgiana Langlois, Becky Langlois (Chris Dugas), Mary Langlois, Frances Lee (David), and Jennifer Langlois; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Services will be held at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow from 11am to 12 pm. Burial to follow at Resthaven gardens of memory.
Pallbearers will include Ken Dunbar, Mackey Dunbar, John M. “Trace” Langlois, III, Gabriel Kennedy Langlois, Adam Haynes, and Malcolm Lee. Honorary pallbearers will include James O. Langlois, Barry Langlois, Landon Smith, Jacques Majors, Buster Antoine, and Jim Urdiales.
The family would like to thank Baton Rouge General Home Health: Carla Walker and Trina Perkins, Pinnacle Hospice: Ann Boltin, and his steadfast sitters: Charlotte Goins and Amira Queen.
