John William King, III passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024, at the age of 75. He was born October 6, 1948, in New Orleans, Louisiana to John William King, Jr. and Cora Catherine Purvis King. He was a graduate of the of the University of Louisiana at Monroe, receiving his bachelor's degree in history.
John retired after years of dedicated employment as a Claims Representative for Murphy Oil. He was a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Harahan, Louisiana.
He enjoyed biking, photography, hunting and gunsmithing. One of John’s most unique interests was his appreciation for penmanship, this led to extensive and ever-growing collection of fountain pens!
He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Martin King and Adam James King; his sisters, Memory King Seymour and Taryn King Chonko; his brother Gary Lee King; and his granddaughter Samantha Sawyer King. He is also survived by his nephew Charles Christopher Dewey Seymour and his children Kaitlyn Nikol Seymour, Rachael Elizabeth Seymour, Ashlyn Renee Seymour and Brenna Catherine Seymour; and his niece Lauren Catherine Elayne Seymour Rubin and her daughter Chloe Catherine Elayne Rubin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Thursday, February 29, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1:30 p.m. A private inurnment will be held for the family at a later date.
