John Hoshman

November 22, 1957 — January 1, 2023

John Dallas Hoshman, 65, Baton Rouge native, died on January 1, 2023 from esophageal cancer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita Fay and Russell M. Hoshman, his sister, Amanda Sue Aurand, and his faithful K-9 companions, Goldie and Alvin. John is survived by his loving wife, Danelle, his devoted son, Charles "Toby" Merrick Hoshman, his brothers Russell (Ann) and Dennis (Elska), and his sisters-in-law, Jennifer Gilkes, Nancy Lovejoy, and Elizabeth Macmurdo.


John retired after 35 years of working for the Army Corps of Engineers.  Throughout his life, John enjoyed many hobbies, including playing golf and tennis, and cooking. John was a bluesman, who had a talent for building guitars, writing songs, and playing music.  He will be missed dearly by both family and friends.


Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 7th, followed by a visitation at 2 p.m. and a celebration of life at 3 p.m., both at St. James Episcopal Church.
