John Hornsby departed this world on December 29, 2013 at 8:37 pm after a long struggle with Parkinsons Disease and dementia. He was seventy years old. He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts and grew up in Revere, Massachusetts. He moved to Baton Rouge in 1968 where he continued to pursue a lifelong career in the mechanical seal industry. He was an entrepreneur, inventor and mechanical seal design specialist. He acquired several U.S. patents and revolutionized the design of mechanical seals. He founded Advanced Sealing, Inc., now Advanced Sealing International, in 1984. He had an entrepreneurs spirit and an inventors intellect. He was an avid fisherman who was happiest with his wife by his side whether at work or at play. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Deborah Debby Hornsby. He is also survived by his daughters, Susan Buzbee and husband Mitch, Patricia Daniels and husband Mark, Laurie Rotman and husband Robert his grandchildren, Faith Mayeux and husband Daniel, Shauna Hopkins, John Buzbee, Jr. and Caroline Rotman his great grandchildren, Isabella and Zane Mayeux his mother, Helen Hornsby his brothers, Stanley Hornsby and wife Donna, Charles Hornsby and wife Denise. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John F. Hornsby. We wish to thank Generations Hospice for the peace of mind you gave our family until the very end. A very special thank you to the staff at the House of Grace in Denham Springs . We will be forever grateful for the loving attention and care you gave and for simply spoiling him rotten. Finally, a great big thank you to his Medpass nurses for going above and beyond.
