John Berton Gremillion, age 94, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on June 16, 2017.
Bert served in the U.S. Air Force as a Finance Technical Clerk in Fukuoka, Japan after World War, II. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette and he received his Master's Degree and Doctorate from LSU. Bert worked for Louisiana Department of Education, LSU as Professor in College of Education and for Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as Louisiana Chairman for the Secondary Commission.
He is survived by only one son, John Scott Gremillion; one brother, Glenn Gremillion; and one sister-in-law, Irma Gremillion.
Bert is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ellen Marie Brasset Gremillion; his sisters, Joyce Dupont and Barbara Roy; his parents, Wiltz Gremillion and Lena Murphy Gremillion; and brothers-in-law, Clayton Dupont and Robert Roy.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 15615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA from 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA.
Pallbearers will be Ed Cancienne, Terry Fontenot, Chris Gremillion, Joel Gremillion, Lance Gremillion, and Kevin Weeks. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Gremillion, Joseph Ritz, and Fred Smith.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Catholic High School Foundation.
