JOHN MICHAEL DAIGLE, III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, age 84, born September 30, 1932 in Baton Rouge LA. Died December 27, 2016 in Baton Rouge, LA. John grew up in Port Allen, LA. , attended Port Allen Elementary School; and graduated from Port Allen High School.
He graduated from LSU with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1956. He was Editor of the Engineering Magazine, President of the College of Engineering, a member of honorary engineering fraternities, Sigma Chi fraternity, and a 2nd Lieutenant in the ROTC. He worked for Mobil Oil Company, Prudential Insurance Co., Tenneco Oil Company & Armstrong Tire & Rubber Co., prior to establishing his building career as Daigle Home Builders.
John was a well-respected entrepreneur and homebuilder, who designed and built beautiful homes for over 40 years in the Baton Rouge, Maringouin and Prairieville areas, as well as in Germantown, Tennessee. He also established Daigle Realtors and was an active member of the B.R. Board of Realtors for many years. He established JMD Properties LLC and designed & built apartment buildings and commercial offices.
John loved his family. He was married to Sally Anne McLain of Biloxi MS for over 56 years. He is also survived by his four sons and their families: Doug Daigle, Baton Rouge; Mike & Suzette Daigle of Conyers, GA. and their children: Michael, Jr., Phillip, Katie, and Elliott and Sandy Daigle and their infant daughters Lily-Scarlett and Kiran, all of Georgia; Steve and Rose Daigle of Charlotte NC and their sons: Sam and Jake; Marc & Anna Daigle of Dallas TX and their children: Stella, Ethan and Andrew. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Cletta "Ducky" O'Neal of Maringouin; Wade & Cindy O'Neal of New Roads; Kellie & Mike Helm of Abita Springs; Patrick & Yvette O'Neal of Ft. Worth TX.; and Edie & Jeremy White, of Baton Rouge.
In addition, he is survived by cousins Mary Carol D. & Bob Gilbert; Kathy & Wade Daigle; Pam D. Arnold & Danny; Libby D. Barbee & Billy; Jeanne D. King & Brian; Jimmy & Laurie Daigle; Mrs. Marilyn Daigle and David & Debbie Daigle.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John M. "Mike" Daigle, Jr. and Stella Ann Borne Daigle of Port Allen; his maternal grandparents, Bertrand & Blanche Borne; and paternal grandparents John Michael Daigle, Sr. and Elvy Aucoin Daigle.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:30 am at our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge with visitation at the church from 10:00 until the funeral mass at 11:30 am.
