A retired United Methodist minister, Rev. John Coker died on January 28, 2014 at OLOL Hospital. He was 74, a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Baton Rouge. John graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and Candler School of Theology, and served United Methodist churches in Louisiana for over 30 years. He loved people, and after retirement continued to minister to everyone he met. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louise sons John Coker Jr. and wife Catalina, Tim Coker, and Matt Coker and wife Erin grandchildren Sydney Rametta, Hanna Coker, and Michael Coker brothers Thomas Coker and wife Joan, and Dr. William Coker and wife Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. and Wilmoth Baggett Coker, and sister Mary Coker Barbier. Visitation beginning at 3pm on Saturday, February 1, with a Memorial service following at 4pm. at St Lukes United Methodist Church, 3791 Aletha Drive, Baton Rouge.
