John A. Cairo, Jr. passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was 77. John was born in New Orleans on May 6, 1946. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol; his daughter, Jessica Cairo, and son, John Cairo; brothers, Charlie Cairo (Maria) and Jimmy Cairo (Rhonda); and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John August Cairo, Sr. and his mother, Mary Peterson Cairo.
John was a proud veteran and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1963 to 1967. Afterward, he worked in the oil and gas industry for the remainder of his career. During that time, he owned and co-authored six U.S. patents.
Throughout his life, John loved playing golf, fishing, music from the 50s, and telling stories of his younger days. He was a loving husband and father, and his family loved him deeply. He will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 12pm until 3pm. Visitation and Services will continue under the care of Klein Funeral Home – Champions. Visitation will resume at St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church, 7810 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, Texas on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10am followed by a Liturgy Service at 11am. Burial will follow at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 Farm To Market 2920, in Tomball, Texas.
