John Daniel Brister, Jr., a resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 7:14 pm at the age of 75.
John was a native of Baton Rouge, LA. He attended Baton Rouge Junior High School and graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1961. He worked at Ethyl Corporation for 20 years, LA Secretary of State for 5 years and retired from Rhodia Corporation after 14 years.
John is survived by his wife Maureen Alexander Brister; his children, Tracey Robbins and fiancée Carl Worley, Jeffrey Brister and wife Lita, and Stacey Schexnaildre and husband John; sisters, Frances Edwards and Melba Prater; grandchildren, Andrew Robbins, Terry Brown, Tyler Robbins and wife Maddie, Nicholas Brown, Cameron Schexnaildre, and Kylie Brister; great-grandson, Alex Burns; and his beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Daniel Brister, Sr.; mother, Nell Sumlin Brister; infant sister, Nelda Brister; and two brother-in-laws, Alva Jack Edwards and John Wendell Prater.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 12:00pm until funeral service at 2:00pm.
