John Cecil Bourgoyne, Sr. passed away at the age of 79, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at 3:34 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA born August 12, 1936 and a 1953 graduate of Baton Rouge High School. He attended LSU & played the trumpet as a member of Tiger Band. He served in the United States Army and majored in Architectural Engineering. He received the prestigious honor of playing Taps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA.
He was employed at Salco Construction for 45 years where he later retired as a Vice President and Sr. Estimator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anerson and Cleora Bourgoyne; brother, Joseph Anerson (JA) Bourgoyne; daughter, Lisa Shrader Childress & his loving wife of 37 years, Jessie Andrews Bourgoyne.
John is survived by his brother, Ted & sister in law, Ruth Bourgoyne; children, Andrew Clifton Shrader III & wife, Cheryl; John Bourgoyne, Jr & wife, Tammy; Fran Guerin & husband Andre; Erin Allain & husband Al; & Sharon Stanford & husband, Lance. He has 17 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy.; on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 5pm until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at 12:30 pm until services at 2:30 pm conducted by Pastor Jason McNaughton. Interment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
