Mr. John C. Bonfiglio,
80, of Baton Rouge, passed away, Monday, June 14, 2014 at 1:50pm. He was born to the late Tony and Mary Anzalone Bonfiglio, December 23, 1933, in Independence, Louisiana. John graduated from Independence High School in 1953 and received certification as an XRay technician after high school. He joined the United States Army where he served as an XRay technician overseas. John moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1960 and worked as an Xray technician with the Baton Rouge General Hospital eventually becoming Chief of the XRay department. After working as a salesman of XRay equipment and supplies, John founded Evangeline Medical and XRay Distributors, Incorporated in 1972 where he was President and CEO growing the company from a one man operation to seventy five employees with offices in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Shreveport and Jackson, Mississippi. One of his most rewarding accomplishments was being an original founder of The Country Club of Louisiana. John was dedicated to his work and cherished his family. He enjoyed vacationing and hunting with his children as a young man and recently found most pleasure in spending time watching football games and having dinner with his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by five children: Daniel Danny Bonfiglio and fianc Celeste Vranic of Baton Rouge Toni and husband Paul Milligan of Denham Springs and mother of Danny and Toni, Jane Lange John Peter Bonfiglio of Baton Rouge Joseph Bonfiglio of Metairie and Anthony Bonfiglio and wife Katherine of Baton Rouge and mother of John Peter, Joseph, and Anthony, Renate Bonfiglio John has ten grandchildren: Danielle Bonfiglio, Bryan Bonfiglio, Maria Fryou, Chad Fryou, Michael Fryou, Mikayla Milligan, and Anthony Hayes Bonfiglio, Fylnn, Dominic Cline, and Luca Bonfiglio as well as two greatgrandchildren: Isabella Maldonado and Roman Maldonado sister, Virginia Allen and husband Bill and brother, Nace Bonfiglio and wife Shirley, all of whom were a constant source of joy for him.
Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 9:00 am until service time. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, celebrated by Dr. Jere D. Melilli of Christian Life Fellowship. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm in Colonial Cemetery in Independence, LA. Pallbearers will be Bryan Bonfiglio, Chad Fryou, Michael Fryou, Paul Milligan, David Johnson and Seth Deville.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to The American Heart Association or the YMCA.
The Bonfiglio family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and The Carpenter House as well as to Dr. Vincent Tumminello and his staff.
