John R. Ranny Boling Jr., a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the age of 81. He is survived by his daughters and sonsinlaw, Melissa and Tim Ryan, and Karen and Alan Young four grandchildren, Cheri Turner, Mandy Ryan, Jennifer Young and Alex Young and three greatgrandchildren, Zoe Turner, Holly Ryan and Dylan Merrill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Boling daughter, Susan Boling and parents, John Sr. and Edith Boling. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Monday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Ranny was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He graduated with a bachelor of science in chemistry from University of Alabama, and after serving two years in the Army, he then started his 36 years of service at WilliamsMosaic Co. He was a longtime member and volunteer at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. He volunteered for American Cancer Services, the Probation office, St. Vincent de Paul and the Registrar of Voters and was also a former president of AARP. Ranny was a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Broadmoor United Methodist or the American Cancer Society .
