For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Joey James Edward Johnson of Ethel, LA, passed away on May 19, 2016 in Ethel at the age of 45. Joey was born in Baton Rouge on June 20, 1970. He graduated Valedictorian from Woodlawn High School in 1988, and Cum Laude from LSU with a Bachelor's degree in Finance in 1993. Joey earned many honors in pharmaceutical sales and was working in sales for Anvil Attachments in Slaughter at the time of his death. He was a lifelong member of Woodlawn Baptist Church but had been attending Ethel Baptist Church near his home with his children.
Preceded in death by grandparents, James W. and Manuella Roubique Johnson, and Edward F. and Myrdith Stephens Mayfield.
Survived by his children, Owen and Wyatt Johnson, parents Franklin R. Johnson,Sr. and Hazel Mayfield Johnson, brother Dr. Franklin R. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, and sister Ami Johnson Barden and husband Clay, nieces and nephews Richard and Michael Barden, and Kayla, Sarah and Jacob Johnson.
Joey's two boys were "his life" and he loved them with all of his heart. He did his best to pour his life into them and to teach them about God's love.
We, as Joey's family and friends, are heartbroken that he has left us so soon, but we know that we will see him again one day, as Joey was a child of God and his eternal destination was secure in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
We acknowledge that our understanding of present is limited, but one day in heaven we will see things more clearly. As 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 states, " For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears."
We hold fast to Romans 8:28 which states, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
Visitation for Joey Johnson will be Wednesday, May 25 from 11:30AM until funeral services at 2:00PM, Woodlawn Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Services will be officiated by pastors Lewis Richerson and Dr. Tommy Middleton. Burial will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory following funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Brian Aucoin, Jeff Betz, Ken Green, Warren Green, Wilbur McDaniel, Thad Smith, Rhett Spano, and Roland Spano, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Owen Johnson, Wyatt Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Michael Barden and Richard Barden.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30.
