Smith passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the age of 46. Joel, a native of Baton Rouge, was an avid musician who enjoyed drumming from a very early age. He was an infectiously happy person whose love and enjoyment of life affected all around him.

He is survived by his three daughters, who were the love of his life, Avery, Meris, and Ella. He is also survived by his mother, Oneita Smith father, Neil Smith sister, Melanie and brothers, David and Bryan. Joel is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Benjamin J. and Dorothy Dare Smith Uncle, Glenn David Smith maternal grandparents, Allie L. and Evelyn B. LeBlanc.

Visiting hours will be observed at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 1:30pm until service time. Funeral Services will be held at 3:30pm.
