Joe L. Searcy, 81, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017.
Joe was employed for 54 years with Boh Bros. Construction; he started as a carpenter helper and worked his way all the way up to general superintendent. Many of his construction projects, including the I-10 bridge over the Atchafalaya Spillway, the elevated portions of I-110 through north Baton Rouge, and the interchange at I-110 and Airline Highway, have had a huge impact on the lives of many in Baton Rouge and south Louisiana. Joe loved to fish with his fishing buddies at Toledo Bend. He was a faithful member of Family of Faith where he contributed his time to help with anything they needed. Joe was an avid LSU fan.
Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda H. Searcy; daughters, Rebecca Nations (Mike), Lisa Roussel (Les), Karen DuBoulay (Joe); grandchildren, Katie, Jeremy, Mary, Emily; great grandchildren, Abby, Micah, Alexis; sisters, Liz Allen, Renea Whitehorn.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, K.T. and Minnie Searcy; beloved brother, Melvin.
Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home 11817 Jefferson Hwy, on Wednesday July 5, 2017 from 4:00 PM until Funeral Services at 6:00 PM. Graveside Service at Lynn Cemetery Archibald, LA, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
