Joann Leggett

Leggett, JoAnn Fussell, age 84 of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully on April 24, 2016 at 9:30am. She was born in Baton Rouge on January 12, 1932.

JoAnn was a graduate of Istrouma High School class of 1950 and Louisiana State University for her Bachelor's and Masters degrees. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Richard Earl Leggett and parents Vincent N. and Letha A. Fussell of Folsom, LA.

She is survived by a sister, Margaret Nell Ferguson of Baker, LA; a daughter Melinda Leggett Cooper of Baton Rouge; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Donna O. Leggett of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Dylan M. Leggett of Baton Rouge, Logan T. Leggett of New Orleans and Melissa Cooper Goss of Houston. Pallbearers will be Eddie Ferguson, Paul Lee, Byron Miller, Dylan Leggett, Logan Leggett and Richard Leggett.

Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy on Tuesday April 26, from 12:00 pm until chapel service at 2:00 pm, led by the Rev. Tommy French.

Entombment will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory Mausoleum.

JoAnn was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church and the East Baton Rouge Parish Retired Teachers Association. She served as principal of Brownfields Elementary School and was a member of Louisiana Association of School Executives.
