JoAnn C. LeBlanc passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born March 5, 1942, in Prairieville, Louisiana to Joseph Alfred Cowart and Pearl Magdeline Broussard Cowart. While attending high school, she had a part-time job working concessions at the Dalton Theatre. It was there that she would meet the love of her life, Harry Andrew LeBlanc, Jr., who still says she is the ‘prettiest girl he knew’! They married in 1962, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, while Harry was serving in the United States Army. They spent the first year of their marriage in Panama, before moving back stateside.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Robert Cowart and Kline Cowart; and her sister Peggy Cowart Winstead. JoAnn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Harry Andrew LeBlanc, Jr.; their son Jeffrey D. LeBlanc; her brother Joseph Cowart, Jr.; her sisters Phyllis Cowart Breaux and Brenda Cowart Graphia; and numerous other loving family and friends.
JoAnn enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. While Jeffrey was growing up, they would often be found camping, but once he entered the military, JoAnn and Harry hit the open waters and thus began their love of cruises. They set sail throughout the Caribbean countless times, but no place held their heart like the Riverwalk in San Antonio, their annual trip to Texas resulted in great food and even better memories. She was always one to take care of others - people, animals and especially cats. Her love of animals included birdwatching and visiting countless zoos on family road trips. JoAnn was a longtime parishioner of St. George Catholic Church and a member of the Friends of the Zoo. On evenings at home, you would often find JoAnn and Harry outside on their porch swing, with a cocktail in hand. She always made time to watch Jeopardy and the LSU Tigers during baseball and football season. While we will forever cherish our time with her, there could never be enough.
