Joann Bercegeay Gateley went to be with the Lord on November 4, 2021, ending a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. While her time with us ended too soon, those that were blessed by her presence will cherish the imprint she left on our hearts through her faith, love, and grace.
Joann was born on December 30, 1950 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Nathan and Carolyn (Mire) Bercegeay. She graduated from East Ascension High School in 1968. A resilient entrepreneur, she owned and managed a variety of successful small businesses in her working career, including Custom Designs Screenprinting & Monogramming and Armstrong McCall Professional Beauty Supply.
In addition to her success in business, her family was her priority and passion. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, Granny, and sister. She made a habit of making sure our times together were always special.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 35 years, George Gateley; her sons, Damon Duhe and wife Angela, Chad Duhe, Blaine Duhe and wife Ashley, and step-daughter Jamie Gateley; her sisters, Carol Ann Bercegeay Gautreaux, and Debra Bercegeay Cross; and her grandchildren, Cole, Hope, and Faith Duhe, Piper Duhe, and Brooks and Isla Duhe.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Carolyn Bercegeay, and brother, Gary Joseph Bercegeay.
"For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." Hebrews 4:10
