Joan Rhodes

Joan Ann Rhodes, born August 23rd, 1933, in Green Island New York, passed away on March 14th, 2022 at the age 88. Joan was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend. Joan is survived by her daughters Linda Rozany (Arnie) and Sharon Moak, granddaughters Carey Cordeiro (Tony) and Alana Seamon (Tom), great-grandchildren Zachary & Ashleigh, Lucas & Liam, grandsons Joshua Moak and Jason Moak (Kayla), and great-granddaughters Kara & Kate, cousins Jack and Anne Warner and stepdaughter Cindy Rhodes Alphonso. She was preceded in death by her mother Irene Mary Teson and father Thomas Francis Flynn, husbands Everett A. Rugg and Lyman “Dusty” Rhodes whom she loved dearly.

Joan spent her childhood years in Troy, New York and moved to Buffalo, New York in 1952-2017 and in later years moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to live with her daughter Sharon. Joan modeled in her earlier years, was a homemaker raising her family and later worked in the eye care profession.

Joan will be deeply missed by her family and friends; she made many lifelong friendships along the way. She enjoyed speaking to them regularly. She was very kind and caring and loved being around her family, celebrating the holidays and making lasting memories.

Visitation will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory & Funeral Home on Friday, March 25th for a viewing from 10am to 11am followed by a prayer service. Joan’s remains will be laid to rest aside her late husband Dusty at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Blairstown, New Jersey.
