Joan Hansen Geiser Baker, of Prairieville, Louisiana passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born September 4, 1946, in Hollywood, California to the late John and Mary Constance Geiser.
Joan was sweet, funny and affectionate, but above all this, she was a loving and exceptional mother. Until her illness, she never missed an opportunity to call or facetime her kids and remind them how much she missed them. Her ability to never forget a special day will be fondly remembered - she never missed a birthday, graduation, or anniversary. Joan loved shopping – but her kind and giving nature often resulted in gifts for others and rarely for herself. Joan also loved to cook! Her most popular recipes are her BBQ meatloaf, chicken spaghetti and buttery refried beans. Many will talk about hobbies and interests, but for Joan she had but one true pastime and that was her family. She was happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her face would light up with every facetime call, and when travel became difficult for Joan, she would keep pictures of loved ones close at hand.
Joan was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed.
Joan is survived by her daughter, Lisa Pipher; sons Jason Baker and wife, Heather, and Jeremy Baker and wife, Christy; her grandchildren Dean Pipher, Kara Pipher, Madison Baker, Savannah Baker, Aspen Baker, Zoey Baker, Ella Baker, Bailey Baker, Parker Leigh, Brianna Leigh, and Hunter Leigh. She is also survived by her sisters Patty Joao and Candice Mcintyre; and her brother, John Geiser; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.
Joan was welcomed into Heaven by her parents and her beloved sister, Emily Arruda.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Sandy Baker and Kathy Baker for their amazing support and compassion. Your visits always lifted her spirits! The family also wishes to thank the kindhearted doctors, nurses, and staff from The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.
