A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, July 8, 2010 with family and friends by her side. She was 77 and a native of Tallulah, Louisiana. A private family graveside service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and conducted by family Pastor Randy Johnson of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church. Jo Ann was born in Hartsville, Tennessee to Oscar Dewitt Duncan, Sr. of Tennessee and Louise Gould Duncan of Lake, Mississippi on June 10, 1933, as a fiery redhead with a spirit to match, later the red curls gave way to auburn and then white, but her spirit remained feisty to the end. She is a member of Florida Boulevard Baptist Church and was baptized at Sondheimer Baptist Church. Survived by her husband of nearly 55 years, Alfred, a native of Lake Providence, Louisiana and their two children, a daughter, Staci Warner of Amite, Louisiana and son, John Warner and daughterin law, Kimberly of Conroe, Texas. Jo Ann has two granddaughters, Makayla Duncan and Madison Elizabeth and a honorary daughter, loving friend and caregiver, Jennifer Truax. Jo Ann is survived by sister, Patsy Bosso and husband Ken of Baton Rouge and nieces and nephews, David Wood, Susan Edmondson, Kenny Bosso and numerous other nieces, nephews and brother and sisterinlaws. She is presided in death by her parents Oscar Dewitt Duncan, Sr. and Louise Gould Duncan and siblings Oscar Dewitt Duncan, Jr., Betty Wood, James Duncan and Richard Duncan. Jo Ann, a lifelong learner, graduated from Lake Providence High School and Texas Womens College. With a Bachelors in Science in Home Economics she taught for several years in Northeast Louisiana before ending up in the printing and publication business and retiring as vicepresident after nearly 30 years with Moran Printing, Inc. In retirement, she was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She also enjoyed family genealogy and traveling to old family home sites in Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. Another passion of hers was reading and sharing information with family and friends and cooking. She adored reading and learning about all things. Always clipping articles and sharing them with her friends and family members. She and her husband wanted to make sure their beloved grandchildren had every opportunity for a bright welleducated future so they made sure financially that happened. Through their strong work ethics and fiscal planning, they helped others less fortunate. Several charities supported by Jo Ann are St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and American Cancer Society.
