A native of Pflugerville, Texas, and a resident of Baton Rouge, he passed away at the age of 90 on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He proudly served as sergeant under General Patton in the 71st Division, 635th Tank Destroyer Battalion, earning numerous medals and ribbons. He was a jewelry maker, painter and had a love for speaking different languages. Visiting will be at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from noon until service at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Hilda G. Orona two daughters, Patsy Lehron and husband Michael, and Priscilla Smith stepdaughter, Michelle Monistere and husband Paul son, Jimmie Orona Jr. and wife Patsy 15 grandchildren, Rudy, Benino, Josey, Lonnie, Richard, Rudy, Jimmie III, Debra, Christopher, Jaime, Veronica, Enrique, Amanda, Billy and Robbie and 16 greatgrandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Rudy Orona stepson, Larry DeLatte and grandson, Victor Rodriquez.
