Jimmie Carter

A beloved servant of God, Jimmie Sessions Carter, passed away on April 12, 2022 at the age of 93.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pauline Hughes Carter, who was there by his side.

Jimmie was a family man that led by example and with undeniable love for Pauline and his extensive close knit family. Proud father to, Gary “Gene” Carter (Cheryl), Paula Herman (Linn), James “Carroll” Carter (Sue), Joy Odem (Raymond), Virginia Lea Baber (Glen) and preceded in death by Leslie “Jerry” Carter (Nanette). Grandfather to Micheal Carter (Lyndsi), Benjamin Lackie (Angela), Bradford Carter, Ryan Carter (Leslie), Annette Edwards (Rusty), Paige Goodman (Mike), Jon-Max Herman (Angelle), Lydia Pullman (Andrew), Clare Carter, Erika Odem, Carter Odem, Reilly Baber, Jude Baber, Porter Baber and preceded in death by Eythan Lackie. Proud Great Grandpa 14 greats. Survived by siblings, Orilla Lea Butler (Glen), Arilla Bea Weeks (Charles), Malva Weaver (Shannon) and preceded in death by Mary Matthews, Alex Dave Carter (Dot), Mattie Reed, Elbertine “Teenie” Wesberry, and Charlie Danny Carter.

Jimmie served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War Conflict. Known for his work ethic Jimmie was an electrician and a member of the IBEW Local 995 for over 65 years. He was a dedicated founding member of South Baton Rouge Church of Christ for 45+ years where he served as an Elder.

Visitation will be held in his honor at South Baton Rouge Church of Christ, 8725 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, April 16 2022 from 12:30pm until 1:30pm with services immediately following. There will be a Gravesite procession to Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Old Jefferson Hwy, Baton a Rouge, LA where he will be buried at 3:00pm.
