Jill Root

Tari Jill Harris Root, age 55, a resident of Baton Rouge passed away August 27, 2018.

Jill was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she graduated from Broadmoor High School in 1980 and attended Southeastern Louisiana University. Jill married her high school sweetheart, Jay Root and had 2 boys, Cullen Root and Carson Root. She was loved by all who had the privilege of calling her a friend.

Jill is survived by her son, Cullen Root; father-in-law Bill Martinez; Lyn Brady (Jeff) and Kellie Langlois Aucoin (Kevin) her beloved best friends/cousins and confidants who are forever bonded by their mutual love for Jill. She is also survived by her Uncle Don Smith (Carolyn) and her Aunts Rholene Wilson (Hank) and Sheridan Harris, along with numerous cousins, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her loving husband, Jay Root, beloved youngest son, Carson Root, Mother Frances Smith Harris, Father Joe P. Harris, mother-in-law Jeanette Martinez and brother-in-law A.G. Root.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Jefferson Hwy. on Friday, August 31, 2018, from noon until 2 with burial immediately following at Serenity Oaks Cemetery on Hwy. 73 Prairieville La.

The family of Jill wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all family and friends who have called, sent text messages and emails over the last several days offering their love, concern and condolences. Jill was extremely loved and will be greatly missed.
