Jerome “Jerry” Charles Harrison, Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away at his daughter and son-in-law’s home, Lisa and Quinn Rainwater, on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the age of 97. He was a native of Chattanooga, TN and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in Japan and Germany as a 2nd LT in the US Army. He spent his career working for the Louisiana State Police as a criminologist. He was a member of Stevendale Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles, history, and having a positive attitude. He lovingly created replicas of famous wooden ships for his children which are currently on display in their homes. He was a supporting figure in the lives he touched. He was a kind and loving soul.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Faye Norris Harrison; son, Jerome “Jerry” Charles Harrison, Jr.; grandson, Christopher Andrew Jarreau; parents, John Harrison and Laura Compton, siblings, Nina Trent, Nancy Hawkins, and John Harrison, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Quinn) Rainwater, Gina Harrison (Robin Rowan), Andrew (Sondra) Harrison; grandchildren, Emma (Andrew) Benjamin, Olivia Harrison; great-grandchildren, Jonah Benjamin, Chloe Benjamin, Jameson Scott, and Harlow Rainwater; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
