"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7-9
Jeralyn "Jerri" Landry Trahan passed peacefully into the Lord's hand on October 5, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jerri was born on March 28, 1955, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Joseph Ira Landry, Jr. and Jenora Plauche Landry. Jerri grew up in Lafayette where she met her husband James Dale Trahan. They were married on August 13, 1977 and moved to Baton Rouge. She was blessed with two sons, Greg and Chris.
For the past 28 years she worked at Our Lady of Mercy School as an administrative assistant and director of Extended Day Program among many other important roles. She gave her all to the Mercy community that she loved so dearly.
Jerri was a devout Catholic Christian who kept her faith until her last breath. She taught her family how to love and admire the Christian faith.
In 2009, she began her most cherished role as "Mimi." She was a dedicated grandmother who "loved her loves" with all of her heart and soul. Jerri was blessed with five grandchildren: Peyton, Gracie, Presley, Camille, and Parker.
Jerri enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She felt at home in the kitchen making meals and memories for all that she loved. Each year she looked forward to vacationing in Destin with not only her family but her close friends.
Jerri made a lasting impression on everyone she came in contact with through school, church, and everyday life.
She is survived by her husband James Dale Trahan, son Gregory Dale Trahan and his wife Michelle Loolara Trahan, son Christopher David Trahan and his wife Julie Robinson Trahan; her five grandchildren Peyton Gregory Trahan, Julie Grace "Gracie" Trahan, Presley Mariana Trahan, Camille Avery Trahan, and Parker Brennan Trahan; her parents Joseph Ira Landry, Jr. and Jenora Plauche Landry; sisters Stacie Landry Reed, Margaret Gay Landry Bearb, and brother Keith Joseph Landry.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Miletello and Dr. William Russell along with their staff, Vital Link, AIM Palliative Care, Brandy Thomas, and St. Joseph Hospice for their wonderful care throughout her long fought battle.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory and Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue on October 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church from 9:00-10:00 followed by Mass at 10:00 am.
