Jeffrey M. Wingate

Jeffrey, known as Jeff to his family and many friends, passed away at the age of 56 on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 3:37 pm from complications from an auto accident and a brave battle with cancer.
Jeff was a native of Baton Rouge, and a longtime member of Parkview Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and acquaintances. He is survived by his parents, James and Margaret Wingate of Baton Rouge; a brother, James and wife Jennifer of Denham Springs; and a special friend Kathy Hensley of Gulfport Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Ann Elizabeth Wingate; his brother, Scott Randall Wingate; and both sets of grandparents.
Jeff was a man of many talents including master mechanic, HVAC repair, diesel mechanic, and auto and farm equipment repair. He was also a welder and fabricator, and marine engine and boat trailer mechanic as well a long time cross country truck driver. Along with his many skills, one being a photographic mind, he was a master story teller. Jeff was always quick to entertain his many friends and acquaintances with stories of his life and times on the road, and under the hood of anything with a motor. He never hesitated to help anyone in need, or to share his knowledge and teach anyone who was willing to learn from his vast wealth of knowledge.

Visiting hours will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 10:00 am until service at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
