Jeannie Chauvin

Jeannie Chauvin, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away at OLOL on Monday, April 29, 2024 at the age of 83.

Jeannie was a member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church.   She was a graduate of Shady Grove High School where she was an all-district basketball player.  She was proudly crowned as Miss Maringouin, LA in 1959.  She retired from the East Baton Rouge School System where she served as school secretary for many years.

Jeannie is survived by her high school sweet heart and husband of 61 years, Lance “Pappy Jr” Chauvin; daughter, Cobie Chauvin (Megan); sons Flynn and Brady Chauvin (Shannon); grandchildren Morgan Chauvin Braud, Jordan Chauvin (Rachel), Brant Chauvin (Cylie), Kylie Chauvin (Colby); great-grandchildren Hays and Brooks; sisters Jeanelle Hebert Chustz (Winston), Juliette Hebert Butler (Jeff); sister-in-law Eileen Chauvin Devillier (Carroll); brother-in-law Mac Chauvin (Linda) and Danny “Joe” Riche (Carol).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Evela Melancon Hebert; sister, Mildred Spragis; brothers Jasper and Johnny Hebert; mother and father-in-law Lance “Pap Sr.” Chauvin and Ezora Achee Chauvin; and brother-in-law Stephen Chauvin.

Pallbearers will be Brant Chauvin, Jordan Chauvin, Jamie Chustz, Matt Hebert, Carroll Devillier Jr. and Carey John Chauvin.  

Visitation will take place at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Eric Gyan.  Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
