Jeanette Rita Rivet Ak, a native of Morganza, Louisiana and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She retired from AT&T after 30 years of service, was a parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of the Pioneer Club. Jeanette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Alvina Rivet; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mehmet and Servet Ak from Istanbul, Turkey; sisters Elnora Cline and Verda Purpera; brother Bernie Rivet; brother-in-law Guy Purpera; sister-in-law Louise Rivet; and son-in-law J. Milton Bonaventure.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 62 years Turhan Ak; their daughters Gale Bonaventure and Suzan Guidry and her husband, Patrick Guidry; grandchildren Kristen Guidry and her husband Erik Kofoed, Lauren Guidry, Michael Guidry, Austin Guidry and his wife Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Reily Swanson, Azilah, Ayla and Ava Guidry, Matthew and Gregory Kofoed; brother-in-law William Cline Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the service immediately following at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Trey Nelson with St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. Graveside Services will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Guidry, Michael Guidry, Austin Guidry and Ricky Rivet.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to her caregivers April and Arielle.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
