Jean Haydel

A retired, dedicated registered nurse, she died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 78, a resident of Baton Rouge and native of Lexington, Ky. She graduated in 1959 from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, New Orleans. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Thursday, July 2, from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Mike Schatzle. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by her former husband, Florian Haydel; two daughters, Jacqueline Haydel, and Melissa Missy Diaz and husband Dr. Peter Diaz; sister, Lucille Church; and two grandsons, Peter and Bennet Diaz. She enjoyed painting and loved animals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Area Animal Welfare Society, P.O. Box 77765, Baton Rouge, LA 70879 or a charity of choice.
