A retired secretary and resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Baton Rouge. She was 84 and a native of Shreveport. Visiting at Jefferson United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Hulen Warren. Survived by her three sons, L. Clifton Dickerson III and wife Bobbie, Alan C. Dickerson and wife Cheryl, and Paul B. Dickerson and wife Jan sister, Nancy Lee Smith Faust, of Jacksonville, Fla. brother, R. Albert Smith Jr., of Martin, Tenn. eight grandchildren, Lawrence C. Dickerson IV, Kathyn E. Dickerson, James A. Dickerson, Andrew A. Dickerson, Sawyer B. ByeDickerson, Kathleen M. Dickerson, Tess M. ByeDickerson and Averie M. ByeDickerson and greatgrandchildren, Emma G. Dickerson and Noah G. Dickerson. Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Dickerson Jr. parents, Rufus A. Smith and Fanny M. Smith and brother, Dennis M. Smith. Jean had a quiet sense of adventure she flew solo in an airplane in the 1940s before she could drive a car. She performed Gods work as a gentle servant all of her life.
