Born in Wheeling, WV on January 16, 1925, and raised in Bridgeport, Ohio, Jay died on August 9, 2012 in Baton Rouge. A resident of Lafayette and New Orleans for more than 40 years, and a resident of Katy, Texas for 8 years, Jay lived in Baton Rouge for the past 7 years. Married to his beloved Susie for almost 65 years, Jay was a devoted father and husband. He was a self employed Petroleum Geologist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and his Masters degree from the University of Michigan. Jay served as a navigator in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was known for his gentle and loving character and was most proud of his roles as father, husband and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie parents, Charles Howell and Jesse Frame sister, Mary Lou Gatchell soninlaw, Bob Rawle and two infant sons. He is survived by two daughters: Becky Rawle of Katy, Texas and Marcy Brennan of Baton Rouge soninlaw, Hu Brennan of Baton Rouge and granddaughter, Jennifer Rawle of Topeka, Kansas. Services will be held at a future date. In honor of Jay, contributions may be made to St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge, or the Alzheimers Association, Louisiana Chapter. Resthaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
