Jasper Greer

Jasper O. "Duck" Greer, 91, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Friday, March 3, 2017. He was born to Paul E. and Claudia N. Greer on April 27, 1925. He proudly served his country in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WWII aboard the U.S.S. Pokomoke.Duck was completely devoted to His Lord and family. A member of Istrouma Baptist Church since 1956, he served as a deacon for over 50 years, a Sunday school teacher, and took an integral part in all aspects of church life.
An avid LSU supporter, he enjoyed traveling to games with friends and tailgating with family. Golf was also a favorite hobby. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His positive outlook and encouraging spirit endeared him to all he knew.

He is preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and a granddaughter.

He is survived by the love of his life, Bessie Russell Greer, who he married almost 70 years ago on May 29, 1947. Other survivors are his three siblings, and his children and their spouses: Diane Greer Willis (Charles), Russell Bee Greer (Roslyn), Patti Greer Legendre (David); treasured grandchildren Michelle Willis Baumgardner (Joe), Stewart Willis (Julie), Renee' Legendre Laurent (Glenn), Rebecca Legendre Eubank (Brad), Robin Legendre Skinner (Matt), Rachelle Legendre Crawford (Bryce), Ryan Greer, Ragan Greer Brown; and 13 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 from 11:00 am until services at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Vision 20/20 Fund at Istrouma Baptist Church, 10500 Sam Rushing Dr., Baton Rouge, La.
