Janie Paul

Janie, who was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on April, 26, 2015, at The Butterfly Wing- Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was 86 years old, born on July 28, 1928.

Janie worked as the cafeteria manager for the Diocese of Baton Rouge for many years. She was an excellent cook and hostess. Janie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends the most. Both Janie and her husband, Martin, were known for their generosity, kindness, and especially their elaborate Christmas decorating.

She is survived by her step-son, Joe Paul and wife, Tina; grandchildren, Joseph Paul and Alisha Brumale; great-grandson, Tyler Paul; loving sister, Catherine Burkett Macha; sister-in-law, Lucille Burkett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janie is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Martin Paul; parents, Fred and Mary Burkett; brothers, Cecil, Julius and Thomas Burkett; and sisters, Marie Burkett Benzer and Frances Burkett Miller.

The family requests that visitation hours be observed on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 2121 N Sherwood Forest Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 2:00 PM at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and will be officiated by Father Jack Nutter.

Interment will take place at Resthaven Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
