Janice went to be with the Lord at 7:38 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 72, born June 12, 1938, in White Castle. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, Monday, June 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues Tuesday, June 29, from 8:30 a.m. until service at 10:30 a.m., conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Victor Smith parents, Adam Martinez Sr. and Lucy Spragio Martinez sisters, Evelyn Bud Bamett and Isabell Bell Kling brother, Adam Brother Martinez Jr. and grandson, Dennis Day. Janice is survived by her children: daughter, Kim Banta and sons, George Happy Banta Jr. and wife Glenda, and Brian Banta and wife Vicki three sisters, Ethel Morris, Mildred Bourg and Shirley McNemar brother, Raymond Curley Martinez and wife Claudine sisterinlaw, Jeannie Martinez grandchildren, Jennifer Day, Adam Day, Kayla Banta, Brittney Banta Troxclair and husband Joshua, Kevin Banta and Matthew Banta greatgrandchildren, Dustin Wunstel, Trevor and Ava Lewis, Jace Day, Adam Day Jr., Gage LeBlanc and Charlotte Banta and numerous nieces and nephews. She had a great love of music and opened her heart and home to many. The family would like to thank Gwen Samson for all of her help and support. Pallbearers will be Kevin Banta, Matthew Banta, Adam Day, Joshua Troxclair, Benjamin Chapman and Jacob Chapman.
